My name is Joan, one of Kathy's many friends, and I have been given the task of organising Kathy and Peter's wedding present list.
Always a problem when we receive these invitations..........what do we buy?
Bigger problem..................................what do we buy for a lady who has left it till she is fifty something to tie the knot?
Problem gets worse............................on the domestic front all the happy couple require is a three piece suite and a new fitted kitchen. Any takers?
Fear not. Having had a brain storming session with Kathy's sisters Joan and Angie I think we have come up with a solution.
For those who know and love Kathy as I do you will be aware that there are two things she adores, absolute luxury and spending money on that absolute luxury.
Peter on the other hand is simply content to spend his time with Kathy as she indulges in the things she loves best.
The newlyweds are taking a luxury Mediterranean cruise for their honeymoon but there are a number of extras both on board ship and at various destinations that have to be paid for separately.
There is a full list at the end of this script but examples of the kind of thing I am suggesting are......... In Venice, a romantic gondola ride along the Grand Canal and/or cocktails at Harry's Bar, a very exclusive place I know Kathy adores and would love to share with Peter, and/or luxury hot chocolate to the sound of an Al fresco musical ensemble in St. Marks Square.
On board ship there are manicures, pedicures, massage and two very special restaurants for those intimate and memorable meals both will enjoy.
On perusal of the list you may select a treat you wish to buy personally, which is fine, or you may simply wish to gift a sum sufficient to contribute to their own choice.
In any event what we will hopefully avoid is "The six toasters" scenario.
As everything on board is priced in US Dollars and most of the destinations use the Euro, gifts can be in either currency as well as Sterling. Cheques should be made payable to "K. Holroyd" and I will be sure to inform you of all the wonderful things you have collectively purchased for the lady we love and her new husband.
Should you require any advice, information or assistance do not hesitate to contact me joan.burrows46@gmail.com and between us we will ensure our special friends have a wedding and honeymoon to remember and treasure for the rest of their lives.

This is only a small selection of the many treats and excursions available to Kathy and Peter.
Do not be concerned that any particular item has already been purchased as Kathy and Peter will choose what suits them on the actual cruise though you should feel free to indicate your own choice.
I am confident that Kathy let loose in Venice with a pile of wedding present money will return with something fabulous (and probably expensive) which you will have all contributed towards.
Should you of course have already decided on a wedding gift for Kathy and Peter please feel free to follow that course.
And finally if you just wish to say "Good luck and Bon Voyage" and buy the happy couple a drink then a contribution of a few dollars, euros or pounds is just fine.
